I only have one picture, I should have taken more and will get better at it.

I only have one picture, I should have taken more and will get better at it.
I had today off from work so I was able to get more done on the tailgate. I add the pictures I took later. I removed most of the paint on the outside of the tailgate. I had got spot sandblaster and tried to use it with a vacum, but that did not work and without making a dust room it’s way to messy.
I am going to make a temp. paint room I need to get a couple fans, filters and some plastic. I am running a little low on cash this week after getting everything else.
Anyway, I welded up most of the holes at the bottom of the tailgate. Then I first looked I did not see any holes, but after I start removing paint I found some. After cleaning the rust with a wire brush I used some acid to kill it and help eat it away.
I way going to try and get the tailgate done to put it back on the rig be for it rains, but the more I think about it I am going to leave it off. I’ll take a couple of boards and cover them in plastic to make a temp. tailgate and window to keep the rain and critters out. But I want it easy to remove. It’s a lot easier to in and out of the back without the tailgate on. So once I get the tailgate done I’ll find a good place to put it so it does not get scrached. I’ll make sure the window works and it’s completed first.
I am only going to paint the inside of the tailgate, but I will prep and prime the outside. I’ll most likely do the same for the doors when I get to them.
That’s it for to day.
I got to do some more work on the tailgate. Found another crack so I welded it up. There’s a lot of rust at the bottom, but it will cleanup. I took the tailgate off the rig to make easier to clean, sand and paint it. I am having a heck of a time trying to find the power window lock that does not cost $100+. I did stop at Northwest Body and Paint and got some primer, but I have to go back and get the paint to match the stock white for the truck.
I am going back to the locksmith tomorrow with the locks again and have them fix it and make matching keys.
That’s all I have for now.
I started working on the tailgate. It has the most rust and the window had been removed. I need to get the tailgate fixed and the window work first, because with winter coming it’s going to start raining a lot. I work on the inside if it’s raining and work on other stuff on dry days.
The found a link to a forum that had some body people talking about how to clean and stop rush. The used an acid/water mix and kept the acid wet, using a brush. It seems to work, I was able to get most all the rush a long top edge the tailgate removed.
There were some cracks in the metal on both side on the top edge, so I pulled out my welder and weld them up did little grinding, but I am not finished. I need to stop by a tool shop and get some grinding wheels, wire wheels and a few other thing, to real get started on this.
I will stop at the tool store on the way home from work tomorrow and pickup most of what I need for now. I also played with the rust on the side with the acid mix as well and some 80 grit sand paper, it did a great job. But I need to get some sanding disc for my DA sander.
I gutted the tailgate. We are going to need to get a new key switch, window motor and new window guilds a long with all the trim and due strips.
Anyway that’s it for today.
