Tailgate Party III
I had today off from work so I was able to get more done on the tailgate. I add the pictures I took later. I removed most of the paint on the outside of the tailgate. I had got spot sandblaster and tried to use it with a vacum, but that did not work and without making a dust room it’s way to messy.
I am going to make a temp. paint room I need to get a couple fans, filters and some plastic. I am running a little low on cash this week after getting everything else.
Anyway, I welded up most of the holes at the bottom of the tailgate. Then I first looked I did not see any holes, but after I start removing paint I found some. After cleaning the rust with a wire brush I used some acid to kill it and help eat it away.
I way going to try and get the tailgate done to put it back on the rig be for it rains, but the more I think about it I am going to leave it off. I’ll take a couple of boards and cover them in plastic to make a temp. tailgate and window to keep the rain and critters out. But I want it easy to remove. It’s a lot easier to in and out of the back without the tailgate on. So once I get the tailgate done I’ll find a good place to put it so it does not get scrached. I’ll make sure the window works and it’s completed first.
I am only going to paint the inside of the tailgate, but I will prep and prime the outside. I’ll most likely do the same for the doors when I get to them.
That’s it for to day.
